The view from the no-edge pool is breathtaking! Sleepy Cove more than met the expectations of our multi-general family. Myself, my husband, our two adult sons, their wives and our five grandchildren all loved our stay. From the moment we arrived Chico took care of our every need. He made arrangements for an amazing snorkel adventure. He accompanied us on a memorable River Cruise complete with monkeys and crocodiles. He planned an accompanied us to the Arenal volcano area. We did zip lining, stayed at an awesome resort and enjoyed a nature hike lead by Chico. At Sleepy Cove we loved Vianney's cooking and Freddy's guacamole. The three villas fit our needs perfectly since each family had its own space for nap time etc. The common area for eating and socializing were very comfortable. The pool was a favorite for all of us. Freddy keeps the foliage perfectly trimmed. It is a lovely vacation spot and we'd love to come back.

We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our vacation in Costa Rica at Sleep Cove. Our kids really enjoyed it as well. Words cannot express how much we appreciated Chico. That guy is one in a million. Always happy, eager to help and so much fun to be around. Of course, I know you probably already know that. šŸ˜€ My parents owned a resort in Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I grew up there along with my three brothers cleaning toilets, rooms, changing beds, cleaning the pool etc. Every year, guests come back and I really think itā€™s not only the place but definitely the people that love on you and take care of you during your stay. Chico will always be remembered.

Vienne? and Freddie did an awesome job as well. My daughter spoke a little Spanish so she helped make our talks with them go and we learned a lot from them. We enjoyed the food and drinks!

Thanks again for your last minute quick help. We hope to come again!

Sleepy Cove, you have our heart!

The help we received from Jim and Kate, the house, Vianney's food, the excursions, the VIEWS from Sleepy Cove - our vacation at Sleepy Cove was just absolute heaven. Chico, Vianney, and Fred were all exceptional hosts - they truly made the trip extremely easy for us, informative, special, and personal, the list goes on! We already can't wait to come back. Also, the other reviews aren't joking, Vianney and Fred's poolside guacamole and pina coladas are AMAZING. We couldn't get enough!!

We've only been home few weeks and all of us are talking about when we'll be back at Sleepy Cove. Chico, Vianney, Freddy and all the people we met in Costa Rica could not have been nicer! I have no doubt that we will all be back as soon as possible

We had an absolutely fabulous time! The house, view and staff far surpassed our expectations. We all agreed that we would be back and that we would be telling EVERYONE about Sleepy Cove.
Had a great time and will be sending our friends and contacts your way!

I recently stayed at Sleepy Cove Costa Rica with a group of friends and I could not have had a better vacation experience! Everything about Sleepy Cove was phenomenal from beginning to end. When we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by the wonderful staff members who prepared our delicious meals and also provided many suggestions of ā€œmust seeā€™sā€ around Playa del Coco (and surrounding areaā€™s). This was very helpful, as it was my first time to the Country. They were extremely professional and very pleasant people. The house itself is more like a dream. Breathtaking views off of the pool deck of the beautiful Pacific ocean. The bedrooms are very spacious and the bathrooms provided a very ā€˜at homeā€™ feel. The house is in a wonderful location less than a mile from downtown Coco Beach. Here, we had the opportunity to eat authentic Costa Rican meals, tour around the local shops / gift stores and experience the friendly night life. This was an amazing vacation and I would refer anyone to Sleepy Cove who is looking for a relaxing and tranquil getaway.

We loved everything about Sleepy Cove! The pool and view are spectacular; the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our favorite part of the trip was the delicious food prepared by Vianney and Freddy. Perfectly seasoned Costa Rican cuisine each day. We enjoyed our outing to Ricon de la Vieja to ride horses, zip-line, and do the steam and mud baths. We also had a great time deep sea fishing and caught a rooster fish, a sail fish, and several fish that Vianney and Freddy grilled that night - out of this world!! We have already recommended Sleepy Cove to many of our friends and hope to return some day.

Who says you canā€™t go back? This has been my third vacation at Sleepy Cove and each time gets better and better. Jim and Kate, your vacation house is the best kept secret for vacationing! Itā€™s hard to rate what I enjoyed more, the fishing trips? Kayaking? Horseback riding and zip lining? Hanging out on the beach, watching the sunset or just swimming in your pool looking out over the Pacific Ocean? Chico, who takes care of setting up the trips, is outstanding! He adds so much insight as he was our guide on many sightseeing toursā€¦..I now consider Chico as my friend in Costa Rica. The cooking at Sleepy Cove is great and as usual I miss Vianney and Freddieā€™s cooking when I am home. Again, I cannot express how much I enjoyed staying at Sleepy Cove and I will be back for a fourth visit.

I took a "guy trip" with friendsĀ to Sleepy Cove in June of 2015.Ā  What a wonderful experience.Ā Jim and Chico were great at setting up everything including sportĀ fishing, horseback riding, snorkeling, zip lining and hiking. The infinity pool is the way to go for relaxation after a day full of these and many more activities.

Knowing that we came back to the best cook in Costa Rica, VianneyĀ was something to look forward to everyday.Ā  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, AWESOME. The house and grounds were quite a site, as Freddy took great care of us and we couldn't get enough of his delicious guacamole, poolside.

From the time Chico picked us up at the airport, til the time he took us back to the airport, he had the whole week planned, and executed everything we wanted to experience.

Weather, company, food and fun couldn't have been any better!! Can't wait to go back and enjoy Sleep Cove again in the near future.

Sleepy Cove was an amazing place to relax after a full day of site-seeing! The grounds are large and provide a great space to spend time with your travel mates, or recharge privately. Everything is well maintained and beautiful - the view is amazing! Even the smallest details of our stay were taken care of!
Vianney and Freddie are friendly, accommodating, wonderful cooks, and very knowledgeable about how to make the most of your Costa Rica experience. Chico is an amazing tour guide who was able to really personalize our excursions and time we spent away from Sleepy Cove.Ā

Sleepy Cove was so intriguing that we were thrilled to spend a few days just staying in and taking in the beautiful atmosphere. It was also a great place to come back to after a long day of traveling, knowing that we did not have to worry about food preparation, laundry, or other things you don't want to worry about on vacation! If we ever go back to Costa Rica, I would not even consider staying anywhere else!

We can't say enough great things about this property and our experience in Costa Rica!! Jim and Kate (owners) are exceptional...If you need any help, they are always there to answer questions and give great advise. The house is absolutely amazing. It has beautiful views, clean, and a spectacular staff that go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and enjoying your time in Costa Rica. We did a tour each day that was set up through the property manager, Chico. He was so efficient and made sure you got the best deal possible. He arranged transportation for us and both he and Diego made sure to give history of the country as you were going on your expeditions. Vianney and Freddy were amazing!! They became part of the family and would do absolutely anything to make sure you were happy. Vianney went to the store with you and Freddy stayed behind to make sure he was around the property to help with your needs or making sure the property was clean and beautiful.
We would highly recommend this property. We plan to go back next year. Thank you.

After reading the comments from previous posters I find it hard come up with anything new. So to sum it up Iā€™ll use a line from one of my fellow travelerā€™s, Rich Esposito: It was the GREATEST!!! When you arrive at the Cove and look at the view it just knocks you out. Having coffee in the morning with that view was a great way to start the day. Well, that and Vianneyā€™s Breakfast, the fruit plate alone would have been enough. I have no idea who the 2nd best Chef in Costa Rica is, cuz the Cove has #1. She made breakfast and dinner for us everyday, no matter what activity we had during the day, we made it back in time for dinner! And as mentioned, Freddyā€™s guacamole was killer.

We did a few day trips: The Cloud Forest, A sailing cruise in Sleepy Harbor, a trip to the volcano, and a tour of some of the local beaches. Having Chico as a tour guide was an added bonus. He knows his country and was constantly pointing out points of interest every time we left the grounds.

So pack your bags and enjoy some Tico Time!

This is our third trip to Sleepy Cove, two weeks this time. It was a wonderful time. Of course the view is great but it is the relaxed undisturbed time that is the best. You do not have to do or see anything if you don't want.

The staff is unobtrusive and will do anything you request. Vianney is a fantastic cook and Freddie makes a mean guacamole, an afternoon pick me up.
We enjoyed the massages o the deck, I highly recommend speaking to Chico about setting up some time.

The river cruise was a new adventure for us and the entire family enjoyed the trip, plus the traditional Costa Rican lunch. We are never disappointed with our decision to vacation at Sleepy Cove.

Our family of 11, ages 2-57, had an amazing vacation at Sleepy Cove! The layout of the house is perfect. Everyone could be together, but also have their own space, when needed. The 2 youngest )ages 2 and 4) loved the pool and the picnic area by the pool to play. The house was always clean, comfortable and accommodating. Vianney, Freddy and Chico went above and beyond to make sure we were always taken care of. We also took a water taxi to a white sand beach about 10 minutes away and had a wonderful morning there. The town of Playas del Coco was also awesome. Very few people everywhere we went. Great restaurants (although Vianney's cooking was FABULOUS), the grocery store was wonderful, dive shop was perfect and we loved the beach! Part of the group did the zip line tour with Chico and loved it. We also all went on the River Cruise, everyone had a blast. Chico was great to get all 11 of us around and help us when needed. We travel often and very few times do we go back to the same place, but this is a place we plan on returning too. The view was outstanding from the house. Hope to be there again soon!

What a fantastic time Susan and I had in Costa Rica. Your place is magnificent, and the sunsets from the pool area the most beautiful we have ever seen. Each day was like being in paradise. We combined relaxing by the pool with trips that included what we had spoken of at your house. Chico was the man and what a great resource and person he is. Vianney and Freddy were equally as welcoming and wonderful. Everything was great, even the daily walks to the beach which culminated in my climbing the road to the house. We got to see monkeys, gators, iguanas as well as eat wonderful food. The pineapples were the softest and tastiest I ever had. I can't say enough good things about our trip. In short it was sensational. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house. Hopefully we will return and perhaps be able to bring some family members with us.

Sleepy Cove was even better than we ever imagined! From the travel to and from the airport, excursions set up by Chico to the food and service displayed by Vianney and Freddie we could not have asked for more! The dishes they prepared for us were absolutely delicious and Freddie's guacamole is amazing! We have been to many places and seen lots of things in our travels but the Sleepy Cove vacation was the best one yet. The weather and accommodations were very nice and the view could not get any better, truly a million dollar view that never got old! We can't wait to go back and renew our relationships with the staff and relax in this little piece of paradise!!

Our trip was VERY special and was without a doubt made that way due to the efforts of Chico, Vianney, and Freddy! All of us were treated so well we felt like friends not just guests. Everyone was so nice and professional we couldn't be more pleased.

We have learned in our past travels that the facilities we choose to stay generally aren't as important as the people with which we travel. Our trip to Sleepy Cove was with 3 other couples and we knew these friends were going to make our trip fun and exciting. I can honestly say that Sleepy Cove added a whole new dimension to our trip. We couldn't be more pleased. The home and vistas were off the Chart! Vianney and Freddy made us feel at home and the meals were so perfect we could not imagine going anywhere else. They attended to our every need politely and professionally.

Chico took us to several venues that were fabulous and included several first adventures to our list. The time to get to the venue was as pleasant as the venue itself. His friendliness, knowledge and willingness to share with us all made the trips exceptional. In addition, Chico handled all our subsequent travel needs perfectly. We hope to come to Sleepy Cove again and know that when we do, we will have three more friends to add to our valued list.

My wife and I visited Sleepy Cove with another couple in November of 2014. Our family members had visited Sleepy Cove on multiple occasions, so we knew, to a certain extent, what awaited us. We had heard of the spectacular pool-side views of the Pacific, of the tasty dishes served up by Vianney, and of the nightly guacamole prepared by Freddie. But, to take part in these things for ourselves was an experience for which words do not do justice. Vianney and Freddie were the kindest of hosts, Chico's hospitality and advice was certainly appreciated by these first-time Costa Rican visitors, and the views and relaxation enjoyed from the pool and the balconies were unmatched. Every part of our visit Sleepy Cove lived up to our expectations. We will certainly visit again.

What an awesome experience! We felt like we were living the lifestyles of the rich and the famous. What a beautiful place. We were served the most incredible meals every day by Vianney and Fred. We would wake up to this awesome breakfast with a giant beautiful fruit tray plus an array of other breakfast treats every morning (loved the coffee). Dinners were out of this world! We never needed to go out, we got five star meals right there! We couldn't believe the incredible view from the infinity pool. We made it a custom to be at the pool each night to watch the amazing sunsets each night (and for pool party). We were so impressed with the way Vianney and Fred were so friendly and helpful. They took such great care of everything we needed. It was amazing that you could put your clothes in the hamper in the morning and it would be cleaned and folded when you returned in the afternoon.

Chico was an amazing guide. He was incredibly informative about all aspects of the country, we learned so much about Costa Rica from him. I feel we got so much more out of our experiences because of his great enriching background knowledge. Wonderful person, too.

We loved the town and the people, too. It is such a friendly country. So much to do and see. We were there for two weeks and can't wait to return. Sleepy Cove will definitely be our choice. We have already recommended it to our friends and family!!

Karen of Avon, Connecticut It was a family vacation - 14 of us, all ages from all over the USA - Sleepy Cove was the perfect destination. There was so much to do and so much to see- endless activities. However, when I look at our photos it was just being at Sleepy Cove that made our hearts sing. The pool that seemed to go into the ocean from the side of a mountain, the views of the ocean with sunsets that glowed, the comfortable villas that gave us all a sense of privacy, and the dining room that brought us all together to share the day with laughter and love. Chico, Vianey, and Freddy made our time in Costa Rica authentic. They were so friendly, helpful and the food was totally amazing. WE had no idea that Costa Rica would be so beautiful - in so many ways. WE loved Sleepy Cove!

WOW! What a beautiful home, location and trip! We recently enjoyed a week a Sleep Cove with Larry and Sally and 3 other couples. The 10 of us were truly treated to a vacation..... a vacation any wife would love! No cooking, cleaning, washing/drying, etc. From the minute Giovanni picked us up at airport until we returned to airport, everything was fabulous. The guys (age 57-72) ziplined at Arenal, the rainforest, butterfly conservatory, deep sea fishing trip with Danny, the sand people, the riverboat cruise, etc. But most importantly, the fabulous meals and lodging at Sleep Cove! Vianney and Freddie are so gracious and always made sure we had everything we needed and more. Don't even bother to go out to breakfast/lunch/dinner because you won't get the delicious meals you get at Sleepy Cove! Relaxing by the pool with the beautiful view, enjoying frozen beverages, and listening to music on the iPad..... makes me want to go back right now! And certainly Chico, the property manager, made sure we had everything we needed as well. Chico is a definite keeper along with Vianney and Freddie!
Thank you for sharing this little bit of Paradise with us. We plan to return again soon.... our sons are also making plans to visit Sleepy Cove. Thank you Sally and Larry for inviting us and we will definitely be going back! You can contact me at "Missing Paradise" lol

Just returned from a great trip to Sleepy Cove! Quality accommodations and service second to none! Chico was very helpful and accommodating, and we probably didn't use his services as much as we should have. The website gives you no clue as to the quality of food service provided by Freddy and Vianny! Truly gourmet chefs in every sense of the word! We had the best meals of our whole trip through CR at Vianny's table. She was quick to adapt to the things we wanted to eat and prepared them all with a local flare. Everyday she was on the computer studying new recipes and sauces. The presentation was exquisite. Their efforts truly made our experience at Sleepy Cove special and one we will certainly return to,and recommend to our friends!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely vacation property with us. Char, Julie, Deb, Jeff, John and Mark all had a wonderful time enjoying the infinity pool, our bungalows and the fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean, mountains and beautiful landscaping and birds! Be sure to set you alarm so you can watch the moon shine over the bay at 2amā€¦.it lights up the entire bay! Each sunset was special and such a gift to see every evening (at 5-5:30 pm!!). Walking up the long private road was great exercise each day! I am saving the best for lastā€¦..Freddy, Viangy and Chico made our experience the best ever!!!

Freddy Guacamole treated us to his world famous guacamole each afternoon. We all gained 5 lbs eating that and loved every minute of itā€¦remember the walk up the VERY STEEP roadā€¦it helps! Freddy keeps the ground beautiful and has a nice garden from which we enjoyed zucchini and lemons!

Cooked all of our meals and each time we ate, we thought we had died and gone to heaven. Red Snapper (amazing!!!), lobster, mahi mahi, chicken, ribs (yummy!) and steak made us all anticipate the next meal more than we ever have! Vianney and Freddy were so fun to watch, their cooking and cleaning were so efficiently doneā€¦.choreographed might be a better way to describe the way this husband and wife team work togetherā€¦.perhaps we could all learn from them?

Last but definitely not least! Chico treated us to two wonderful tours. The first was a trip to Buena Vista where we zip lined (we all did it, if we did itā€¦you can too!), rode horses (not to be missedā€¦.beautiful terrain from rocky roads to forest streams), then off the a hot springs area where we started in a steam room then off to the mud bath, which consists of spreading volcanic mud all over our bodiesā€¦.sounds weird, but it was actually really fun! Then we hopped into a hot tubā€¦then slowly cooled down from one pool to the next. Pina Coladas and other tropical drinks enhanced the experience. We had a lovely lunch at the Buena Vista and then back to Sleepy Cove to relax and relive our new experiences!

A couple days later we went to Palo Verde park for a river tour. That was so cool! We toured in the perfect covered boat, arranged by Chico, so it was our own boat with him and Rainier our guide providing loads of great information that stretched our rubber bands a bit! We saw white faced monkeys (blanco, cara monos??), holler monkeys, a crocodile named Panchito, grasshoppers, bats, heron, and lots of iguanasā€¦.oh and a Jesus lizardā€¦walks on water (of course). This was quite a trip and should not be missed.
Perfect weatherā€¦.really warm, nice breeze, a pool to cool off in and wonderful food. What a wonderful vacation. Many thanks!!

The Traverse City Michigan Crew (now going home to about 2 feet of snowā€¦.wish we could stay a bit longerā€¦.like 4 months???)

Yeah Sleepy Cove! I canā€™t thank you enough for letting us stay at your very beautiful home. We could not get enough of the beautiful scenery. I had lost twenty five pounds when I was home, with Vianney and Freddieā€™s cooking I know we all gained some weight.

Monday we went fishing on Sea Boss with Captain Allen and mate Corbin. They did their jobs exceptionally well! I have been fishing with Annette in Venezuela and have mated in Lewes, Delaware as a kid and this crew is world class simply put! We had numerous hook ups with sailfish and Mahi Mahi. We released three or four sailfish at boat side and boated and released three more for pictures.
We landed more Mahi Mahi and then went to another area later for more mahi mahi and there Patrick hooked into and released boat side a Pacific Blue Marlin 9 feet and 350 pounds! What a hog Primo! For being off season; you were right. We were all exhausted.

Francisco is an excellent tour guide! We went to Buena Vista and Tempisque River tour as you suggested. Francisco made the trip very educational and informative, just like Biology class. We all loved the tours! The people and the food of Costa Rica were simply wonderful! We were favorably impressed.
Love Pat and Annette
